With 54 nations, abundant natural resources, and rapidly expanding cities, the continent is filled with opportunity. Yet millions of people still face three interconnected challenges every day: unreliable access to electricity, rising volumes of unmanaged waste, and limited employment opportunities.
The Challenges
The need is significant. More than 600 million people in sub-Saharan Africa lack access to electricity, while many urban areas struggle with rapidly increasing municipal waste due to population growth and urbanization. At the same time, Africa's working-age population is expected to become the largest in the world over the coming decades, making job creation one of the continent's greatest priorities.
